04/14/09- Living with the "ENEMY"?!?
Why is AUTHORITY such a curse word in our culture?  In an age where parents are ignored, teachers are disdained, and American Idol judge Simon is booed for simply offering truth...AUTHORITY has become the ENEMY!!!

The Bible says something pretty amazing:

Deuteronomy 28:1 "If you obey the voice of the Lord and obey all the commands I give you this day, your God will lift you up high above the nations."

If God's desire is to support you and lift you up in every area of your life, how does he do this?!?  He does it through the AUTHORITIES in your life!  The whole point and purpose of authority is to SUPPORT you and LIFT YOU HIGHER than you currently are not to drag you down and keep you back.

It's a whole lot like a three legged bar stool...that stool supports you and allows you to stand on it to get as high as you can.  In life, we all have three legs in the stool of Authority...the God relationship, the Parent relationship, and the Life Coach relationship.  God uses each of these authorities to deliver his blessing and purpose in your life if you'll allow him to.

Who holds the key to your health, peace, finances, and success?  God

Who holds the keys to your car, support for college, encouragement in life?  Parents

Who has the power to give you a raise, help you through a challenging section in Geometry, support you in a quest to start on Friday night?  Life Coaches

So often we translate our experiences of being adjusted or corrected by authority as rejection when it's designed to be DIRECTION!  Authority is not your enemy...it's your friend and is the way God delivers His blessing into your life!

"Whoever heeds correction shows prudence but the fool hates his father's discipline." Proverbs 15:5
